The MLM/Network Marketing Question Is: What exactly is Multi-Level Marketing? What are the good and the bad?

Does this answer sound correct to you?

MLM is the idea that rather than companies spend a ton of money on advertising they rely more on word of mouth. The money saved in advertising, can then be paid out to those doing the word of mouth.

Some companies charge you a fee to join. AVOID THOSE. Do you pay somebody to give you a job? No. Don’t pay someone to be able to sell their stuff.

Back on track. Find a company that is free to join. You tell your friends, family, strangers, etc…when they buy, You get a commission.

If the people you talk to want to join, they come in “under” you. They can then sell and earn money and they too can get people under them. This is the multi-level part….levels of people below you. You recruit 2 who recruit 2 who recruit 2 and so on. This type of doubling can be effective. The great thing is that you earn a percentage of the money they generate.

Products used to be ordered and kept in your spare room. Nowadays, they are shipped direct to the buyer…if not, keep looking

THE GOOD. A ton of many well know companies utilize MLM as a distribution system. I can be a great way to start your own business. Where else can you start a business for a couple hundred bucks…or as I suggest, for FREE. You are just one person. By having 10 people under you have multiplied yourself. If you work 5 hours per week and they do the same that’s 11 people (you plus 10) working a total of 55 hours per week trying to make you money. You can easily make some extra money quickly.

THE BAD. MLM has such a bad reputation due to bad companies and poor pay plans that many will shy away from you. Promises of becoming a millionaire are to hook you and unrealistic. I can happen, but don’t count on it. Commissions can seem small at first and not worth the effort but they do add up fast. It can be hard to convince someone to buy product X from you when they can get it at the mall or the store.
